To Learn Tai Chi is to Protect Life and Body Health

What is Tai Chi?

Tai Chi Chuan or Taijiquan is one of the martial arts popularized in China. It is both an   "internal" or "soft" martial art. It is best known to possess health-related and spiritual benefits. It is non-competitive, gentle, and practiced usually in a slow-paced manner. The goals of Tai Chi are to increase strength, flexibility, body awareness and mental focus. Hence, to learn Tai Chi is vital not just to protect life but also for body health and well-being.

It is believed to improve health and wellness. In contrast to the Western idea of no-pain and no-gain, an hour or more of doing Tai Chi burns a lot of calories than other physical activities like walking, jogging, surfing, skiing and so on. Therefore, it is an important physical workout.

How to do Tai Chi?

There are some basic steps of doing Tai Chi. These steps are simple to actualize and perform. Remember that learning it and actualizing it play a major role in life – for both protection and health.

1.    A proper warm-up of proper breathing and centering is important.

Mind focus is done in this aspect. The very idea of Tai Chi is mind focus or mental concentration. Once you can perfect this aspect, it would be easier for you to perform it and you’ll achieve good health in an expedited way. There are four steps under this aspect.

•    Place your feet to your shoulder.
•    Put your hand on your abdomen in the lower area. The measurement should be 2 inches under the navel.
•    Push lightly and gradually until you get the rhythm.
•    Then, execute breathing with an in-and-out process. Use your nose while breathing. Inhale and exhale from your diaphragm.

2.    Focus at all your body parts a specific time.

Once you get the normal breathing, start focusing on every part of your body. Focus one part of the body at a time. The best way to do is an upward direction, meaning starting from your feet going up to the head.

•    Adjust and re-adjust your feet every time you need to do so. Remember that in this aspect a full balance between your mind and your body parts is important.

3.     Learn about rooting.

This is one of the most important terms in Tai Chi – rooting. It is to process your energy from your internal psyche going out. It is done like you think of your feet and body parts as the roots of your entire body energy. Try to think of a natural power coming out from your body.

4.    Framing is important.

There are two basic styles in this aspect, small-frame and large-frame styles. The focus of the former is on internal energy and this is done to rectify the exact movements and transitions of the body. The latter is focused on the right body positioning and alignment in order to enhance energy and power.

To learn Tai Chi plays a vital role for people’s growth and development. So, you can try learning it for you to develop and enhance your energy and power.
